Summer Youth Employment Program

The program began in 2004 as way to provide high school students with real work experience as summer interns in the banking industry.  By 2006, internships in newspaper and printing companies were added. And in 2009, more companies and nonprofits were recruited so that north Minneapolis youth would receive additional support to get their first job experience.  To date, 936 young people have participated in the program throughout Minnesota.

The Foundation accomplishes its work through partnerships with the following member trade associations and local youth employment programs.  To learn more about summer youth employment opportunities, please visit the websites below:

This year's goals for the program are:

• Create meaningful, temporary (8-12 weeks) employment for youth who would benefit from a workplace experience
  
  
• Expose youth to careers in the banking, newspaper, printing, nonprofit and for-profit businesses.
  

This summer the recruitment goal is 320 youth statewide.
