Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins, members of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce Keystone Program since 2000, annually dedicate 5% or more of pre-tax profits to the community. During 2009, the Twins and the Twins Community Fund provided $5.3 million in community support.  Support includes cash grants covering community program expenses, as well as in-kind donations of Twins tickets and memorabilia.

Minnesota Twins community support includes:

    • The Twins also arrange for current and former Twins players and coaches to participate in many fundraising events. In 2008, they helped raise an additional $1 million for nonprofit organizations
    • In-kind donations of team memorabilia and game tickets to nonprofit auctions, raffles or other fundraising activities
    • In-kind donations of stadium facilities and marketing and public relations resources (e.g., public service announcements, stadium signage; game promotions)
    • Event sponsorships for nonprofit organizations that have significant employee and/or ownership volunteer involvement
    • An annual workplace giving campaign for employees
    • Extensive employee volunteer support, including a volunteer leave policy for individual employees; production of fundraising events for the Twins Community Fund; and other employee volunteer projects (e.g., Twins Holiday Week of Giving)

Minnesota Twins Community Fund

The Twins Community Fund, an independent public charity, distributed $700,000 in community support during 2008.

The Fund’s mission is to enrich local and regional communities by providing resources for the healthy development of children and families through an association with baseball, softball and the Minnesota Twins. The Fund meets its mission by supporting youth baseball and softball leagues and programs in Upper Midwest, Southwest Florida and Latin American communities, distributing free tickets to Twins home games, providing scholarships, and honoring the outstanding community involvement of a Twins player each year.

    • Twins Youth Clinics
    • Tournament Grants
    • Youth Baseball/Softball Camp Scholarships
    • Competitive Youth Baseball/Softball Grants
    • Play Ball! Minnesota
    • Rookie League and Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI)
    • Diamonds and Dreams Scholarships
    • TwinsCare
    • Carl R. Pohlad Award
    • Kirby Puckett Award

The Fund raises support for its work through events and product sales, including: TwinsFest; Autograph Party; Twins Welcome Home Luncheon; In-Stadium Auctions.

The 2009 Minnesota Twins Community Fund Board of Directors is chaired by Kate Walker.
