Poland Family Foundation receives
2009 Nonprofit Mission Award for Responsive Philanthropy
(12/1/2009)
The Carl and Eloise Poland Family Foundation was nominated and selected by Minnesota’s nonprofit community to receive the 2009 Nonprofit Mission Award for Responsive Philanthropy.
At the recent awards ceremony, sponsored by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofit's and MAP for Nonprofit's, the Foundation was honored for providing much needed assistance to those most impacted by the recent economic crisis.
Recognizing that the economic downturn would seriously impact individuals, families, and businesses alike, the Foundation responded to important community needs. In March 2009, it pledged $20 million in support of small businesses, improving neighborhoods and maintaining the nonprofit sector. This funding enabled small businesses to retain employees and secure capital to continue their operations. Additionally, it supports nonprofit's that help families who are homeless or need jobs, and those that support primary or mental health services, or other services to meet basic needs.
